Small Business and Entrepreneur Committee

Meets the 4th Wednesday of every month

• Select and present the “Small Business Person of the Year” award
  
• Sponsor, organize, and enhance the ‘10 Business Expo
  
• Expand the “Shop at Home” campaign to a year round marketing effort
  
• Broaden the base of small business owners on the committee encouraging minority representation and county wide representation
  
• Partner with the Ambassador Committee to Conduct a monthly surprise “Spirit Visit” to a small business (1-15 employees) each month
  
• Create at least two small business round table groups in ‘10
  
• Support and encourage minority businesses
  
• Partner with the Burson Center to promote a “Resource Fair” at the Burson Center for small businesses
  
• Continue to promote and provide guidance to The Burson Center
  
• Continue development of Angel Investment Program
  
•  Proceed with Phase II Entrepreneur Friendly Implementation Program
  
• Host first Entrepreneur’s Hall of Fame Induction Event
  
•  Present  annual “Entrepreneur of the Year” Award
  
• Encourage the expansion of small businesses
  
• Support and work with all merchant associations
  
• Encourage entrepreneurial development
  
• Provide resource information to entrepreneurs and business start-ups
  
• Promote the services of the SBDC and SCORE to new business clients
